Instructions

  • Make the Dough:
    • In a bowl, mix warm milk, warm water, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
    • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Prepare the Filling:
    • In a small bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until combined.
  • Roll and Assemble:
    • Roll the dough into a large rectangle (about 12×18 inches). Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
    • Fold the dough in half lengthwise and cut into 1-inch strips. Twist each strip and place on a lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Bake:
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the twists for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Add the Glaze:
    • Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over the warm twists.
