This Crock Pot Chicken and Dumplings recipe offers a comforting, effortless meal with tender chicken and fluffy dumplings simmered in a creamy sauce. Perfect for busy days, it delivers a satisfying dish with minimal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup carrots, sliced
  • 1 cup celery, sliced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough

Instructions

  1. Place chicken in the bottom of the crock pot and layer with butter, onion, garlic, carrots, and celery.
  2. In a bowl, mix chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper. Pour over the ingredients in the crock pot.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
  4. Remove the chicken, shred it, and return it to the pot.
  5. Cut biscuits into quarters, add to the crock pot, and submerge in the liquid.
  6. Cover and cook on high for an additional hour or until dumplings are fluffy.
  7. Stir gently before serving.

Notes

  • Rolling the biscuit dough thinly ensures dumplings cook evenly.
  • For a thicker broth, mix a tablespoon of cornstarch with water and add during the last hour.
  • Substitute chicken thighs for a richer flavor if desired.
