Description

Monte Cristo Sliders are a delightful combination of savory and sweet, perfect for any occasion. These sliders are made with layers of ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese sandwiched between soft Hawaiian rolls, topped with a Dijon egg wash, and baked to golden perfection. A sprinkle of powdered sugar and a side of raspberry jam add the perfect finishing touch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 1/2 lb sliced ham
  • 1/2 lb sliced turkey
  • 1/2 lb sliced Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar, for topping
  • Raspberry jam, for serving

Instructions

  • Prepare the Baking Dish:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×11-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  • Assemble the Sliders:
Without separating the rolls, slice them in half horizontally. Place the bottom half of the attached rolls into the prepared baking dish. Layer with half of the Swiss cheese slices, all of the ham, all of the turkey, and finally the remaining Swiss cheese. Place the top half of the rolls on top.
  • Create the Egg Wash:
In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, egg, and Dijon mustard until well combined. Brush this mixture over the top of the rolls.
  • Bake the Sliders:
Cover the sliders loosely with foil, using toothpicks to lift the foil if needed to prevent it from sticking to the rolls. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  • Serve:
Allow the sliders to cool slightly, then use a sharp knife to score and separate them for easy serving. Sprinkle the sliders with powdered sugar and serve them with raspberry jam for dipping. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Variation: You can substitute the meats or cheeses based on your preference. Gruyère cheese or roast beef could be excellent alternatives.
  • Make-Ahead Tip: Assemble the sliders ahead of time and refrigerate them until you’re ready to bake.
  • Serving Suggestion: Serve with a light salad or fresh fruit for a balanced meal.
