- 16 oz. sauerkraut
- 1 ½ lb. Polish sausage, cut into large pieces
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 1 tsp. caraway seeds
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Spread the sauerkraut evenly at the bottom of the crockpot.
- Layer the potatoes on top of the sauerkraut, followed by the Polish sausage pieces.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, caraway seeds, and bay leaf. Pour this mixture over the ingredients in the crockpot.
- Season with salt and pepper according to taste.
- Secure the lid on the crockpot and set it to cook on high for 4 hours.
- Once done, stir the contents well before serving to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
Notes
- The caraway seeds and bay leaf add depth to the dish’s flavor profile, complementing the sauerkraut’s tanginess.
- Adjust the salt and pepper seasoning after cooking, as the sauerkraut and sausage already contain salt.
